
Hawks hire NHL Vet as Hockey Consultant

The Portland Winter Hawks have hired National Hockey League veteran and Western Hockey League alum, Mark Janssens, as Special Consultant to the CEO in the area of Hockey Operations.
Janssens will provide Winter Hawks CEO and Principal Owner, Jim Goldsmith, with direct input on all hockey-related matters including scouting, active roster and list management, personnel moves and draft preperation.
"Mark has extensive contacts in the world of hockey," said Goldsmith. "This move expands our reach and gives us access to outside opinions about our players, other players in the league and future players, especially in Europe."
Janssens playing career ended in 2001 after thirteen years in the NHL with Chicago, Phoenix, New York Islanders, Anaheim, Hartford and New York Rangers.
After retiring from the NHL, Janssens received his BA from New York University and his MBA from Columbia University.
A four-year veteran of the Western Hockey league with the Regina Pats, Janssens was drafted by the New York Rangers in the fourth round of the 1986 NHL Entry Draft.
