Hawks Fall Prey to Tri-City Explosion

PASCO, Wash. - Scoring nine runs in the final two frames, the Tri-City Dust Devils rallied for a 11-5 victory over the Boise Hawks at Gesa Stadium.

The hosts, who trailed 4-0 after four innings and 5-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, rallied to even the five game series at a game apiece.

Ryan Garvey led off the seventh with a solo homer to left off Greyfer Eregua to cut the lead to 5-3. Following a walk to Shane Hoelscher, Robbie Perkins smashed a two-run shot to left to tie the score.

An inning later, the Dust Devils batted around for six runs - breaking the deadlock on a Josh Fuentes RBI single. Garvey followed with a two-run triple to extend the lead to 8-5. Cesar Galvez blooped an RBI single, Marcos Derkes tripled home a run, and Drew Weeks capped the scoring with an RBI single.

Jerad McCrummen tossed three innings of one run, two hit relief for the win - working out of a second and third, no out jam in the fifth.

Boise squandered chances all evening - going 2-for-15 with men in scoring position. Rashad Crawford had both hits - driving in the first run in the opening inning and following with a two-run single in the fourth that made it 4-0.

Game 3 of the series is tomorrow night at 8:15 p.m., with Tyler Ihrig meeting Tyler Gagnon.

NOTES: Ben Wells took a no-decision for the Hawks, going five innings of four-hit ball, striking out four...Eregua took over the league lead in home runs allowed with four...Jasvir Rakkar allowed all six runs in the eighth inning, the most runs allowed in an inning by the Hawks this season...Tri-City has four home runs in 18 games this season - all against Boise...Mark Zagunis recorded his first multi-hit game of his pro career, going 2-for-4, with Jesse Hodges adding a two-hit night...three former Hawks earned awards in Minor League Baseball - Arismendy Alcantara was named Pacific Coast League Player of the Week; Dae-Eun Rhee was named Southern League Pitcher of the Week; and Kyle Schwarber was named Midwest League Player of the Week.
