Hawkey's Hot Readers Premieres In Abbotsford Schools

Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat will be making several visits next week as part of "Hawkey's Hot Readers" program presented by HSBC. All visits will be from 1pm - 3pm and several classes will have a chance to meet the players.

Monday January 25th - Godson Elementary - Keith Aulie & Ryley Grantham

Jackson Elementary - Mikael Backlund & David VanderGulik

Dr. Roberta Bondra - Keith Seabrook & John Negrin

Tuesday January 26th - Margaret Stenerson Elementary - Matt Keetley & Hugo Carpentier

Barrowtown Elementary - Colin Stuart & Brad Cole

Matsqui Elementary - Garth Murray & Josh Meyers

Wednesday January 27th - Asia North Poplar Elementary - Gord Baldwin & JD Watt

Alexander Elementary - Cam Cunning & Brett Sutter

Aberdeen Elementary - Leland Irving & Jason Jaffray

The players will see each classroom that has signed up for half an hour and read a story then discuss the importance of reading. The players will be sharing personal experiences and discussing how reading is an integral part of being a professional athlete.

Hawkey's Hot Readers program presented by HSBC, teaches children in grades K-5 the importance of reading while sharing in the excitement and enjoyment of a good book.

The Heat are back in action Friday night against the Houston Aeros who sit only one point behind the Heat in the AHL standings. The Minnesota Wild affiliate will play both games against the Heat in the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre. Friday's game starts at 7:30 pm and Saturday's match up is a 4:00 pm start.
