Week Ten in Review The Huntsville Havoc went 2-1 on the week dropping a 6-4 decision to Pee Dee on Wednesday at home before winning two on the road with a 2-1 decision over the Florida Seals and a 2-0 decision over the Jacksonville Barracudas.
Defensively, the Havoc are on a roll. They have posted a 5-2-1 record in the last eight games and excluding an empty net and shootout goal, the team has posted a 2.37 goal against average.
"I am very pleased with the way our defense has been playing, and for that matter the forwards as well in the defensive zone," Gibson said. "We play a tenacious defensive zone coverage that can take a while to pick up but I think everyone has bought into the system and it has been paying off in the GAA column and the win column and let's not forget the great play of Carmichael."
Wednesday, December 28 - Pee Dee 6, Huntsville 4 HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Pee Dee Cyclones jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the Huntsville Havoc and never looked back on their way to a 6-4 win Wednesday night. Chris Affinati scored :24 into the game and Edan Welch added another goal two minutes later to give Pee Dee a 2-0 lead. Bill Monkman answered for the Havoc at the 8:28 mark cutting the score to 2-1. Joel Petkoff gave the Cyclones a two goal lead with 7:29 left in the first period with a power play goal. Craig Bushey again cut the lead to one less than a minute later sending the Cyclones into the lockerroom with a 3-2 lead. The Cyclones once again jumped out early in the second period on goals by Rob Kapuscinski and Shaun Aebig. Mike Degurse cut the lead to 5-3 when he found the back of the net and the Cyclones headed into the second intermission with a 5-3 lead. James Patterson cut the lead to 5-4 with 8:42 left in the game before Jean-Francios Ricard scored an empty net goal with 1:03 left to seal the win.
Friday, December 30 - Huntsville 2, Florida 1 KISSIMMEE, FL - The Huntsville Havoc got third period goals from Bill Monkman and Don Patrick as they rallied from a 2-1 defecit to down the Florida Seals Friday night on the road. Florida took an early lead on a Lawne Snyder power play goal with 1:01 left in the first period. The Havoc tied the score at 1-1 just 1:43 into the second period on a Steve Hynes goal. Florida took a 2-1 with 7:21 left in the second period on a Robert Sich goal. Monkman scored his goal with 13:25 left in the game and Patrick added a power play goal with 10:10 left. Matt Carmichael made 36 saves to get his 12th win of the season.
Saturday, December 31 - Huntsville 2, Jacksonville 0 JACKSONVILLE, FL - Matt Carmichael made 42 saves and recorded his first shutout of the season as the Huntsville Havoc beat the Jacksonville Barracudas 2-0 Saturday night on the road. Chris Peach netted the first Havoc goal with 12:58 left in the first period with a even strenght goal with assists from former UAH Chargers Ryan Brown and Craig Bushey. Bill Monkman gave the Havoc a 2-0 lead with 14:37 left in the second period with assists from Jeff Dams and Steve Hynes. The Barracudas outshot the Havoc 42-31. Both teams failed to convert on the power play as the Havoc went 0-of-7 and the Barracudas were 0-of-9. Havoc in the Community Members of the Huntsville Havoc will be out in the community this week. On Wednesday and Friday from 6:30 pm to 8 pm Havoc players will be signing autographs at Firehouse Subs. On Wednesday night the Havoc will be at the University Drive location at the Westside Shopping Center, while on Friday night the players will be at the Carl T. Jones Drive location. Havoc forwards Mike DeGurse and Steve Hynes and defenseman Jamie Garrington will be there.

The Huntsville Havoc have a busy week with two home games at the VBC and Sports Radio 730 The Ump has you covered. On Thursday night the Havoc host the Pee Dee Cyclones at 7 pm. The broadcast begins with Havoc Game Night live at 6:45 pm with the broadcast to follow at 7 pm.
On Saturday night, the Havoc host the nasty rival Knoxville Ice Bears. Havoc Game Night live will air at a special time of 8 pm with the play by play to follow at approximately 8:15 pm....
