Barracudas sign defenseman

January 3, 2006 - SPHL (SPHL)
Jacksonville Barracudas News Release

The Jacksonville Barracudas announce that they have signed defenseman Damir Brujic and have activated forward Dan Hickman from the Injury Reserve.

The 6'2, 220-pound Brujic is in his first professional season, and played earlier this year with the Fort Wayne Comets of the United Hockey League. There he picked up 21 penalty minutes in his 7 games with the Comets.

Hickman played four games with the Barracudas this season, before going down with a serious facial injury. He played forward for the Barracudas before his injury, but will likely see time at forward for the remainder of the season. He is expected to be in the lineup this Thursday in Knoxville.

Additionally, two Barracudas were called up to the United Hockey League. Forward Jonathan Charette and defenseman Erick Lajoie will suit up for the Roanoke Valley Vipers, and have been placed on the suspended list. Their Southern Professional Hockey League rights remain with the Barracudas.

Finally, forward Derrell Upton has been placed on the team suspension list, after leaving the team this weekend.

The Barracudas are on the road this week, as they head into Knoxville to play the Ice Bears on Thursday. They return home for their January 12th game against the Fayetteville FireAntz, and then against the Huntsville Havoc on the 13th. All home games begin at 7:05 pm.

The Barracudas play at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, and tickets are available at the arena box office, the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts box office, and Ticketmaster.com. Season tickets, group packages, and 10-game ticket packs are available through the Barracudas office at 904-367-1423.
