Jacksonville Barracudas News Release
Sometimes there is simply no cure for a hot goaltender, and that was exactly the case Saturday night, as the Barracudas faced off against the Columbus Cottonmouths, and goaltender Ian Vigier.
A capacity crowd at Jacksonville Ice saw Vigier make 42 stops in the shutout victory, including several stunning saves in the third period with the Barracudas pressing hard.
The game appeared to be headed to overtime scoreless, before Orin Hergott broke the tie, showing patience in letting the previously unbeatable Cudas goaltender Ryan Person react first, before firing the puck over his shoulder.
The two teams rekindled a rivalry that started in last season's playoffs, demonstrated through tough play on both sides. Jason Bone for the Barracudas led the penalty parade, with 14 minutes, most from a second period scrum.
The Barracudas are back in action at Jacksonvile Ice Thursday, November 9th, as they face off against the Knoxville Ice Bears. The puck drops at 7:00pm, and it's the Barracudas' first "Throw Em Back Thursday", as they present Dollar Beers, courtesy of Budweiser and Rock 105. Tickets are available online on jaxcudas.com, and through the Barracudas' front office at 904-367-1423.
