Florida Seals News Release

[KISSIMMEE, Fla.]-The Seals looked good early only to blow a third period lead and fall 5-4 in overtime to the Columbus Cottonmouths. The Snakes ran their winning streak to eight games while the Seals are winless in their last four.

The New Year started out well for the Seals (13-10-5) as an unlikely candidate scored a first period hat trick. The league's top enforcer, Andrew Katzberg netted his first career hat trick scoring all three goals in the opening frame. It was the third time this year a Seals player registered a hat trick.

The Seals had trouble the rest of the night getting back on the board. After a shaky first period Snakes goalie Ryan Senft stopped 24 of the last 25 shots that came his way.

Columbus (15-9-3) mounted a big comeback in the third period. The Cottonmouths went into the final 20 minutes down two goals, but tied it up just past the half way point. Tim Green finished his two goal night when, for the second straight game, he fired a snap shot to the back of the net. With 9:50 showing on the clock Ryan Haggarty netted his fifth goal of the season and gave Columbus their first tie of the night.

As the game went to overtime neither team could have been happy. Florida and Columbus were a combined 2-7 in extra sessions this season. As always fans were treated to fast paced, up and down action and it started to look like a shootout would determine the game Tuesday night. Instead, Lorne Misita took a great two line pass from Tylor Keller and beat Morgan Smietana for the game winner.

These same two teams will finish their three game set Thursday night in Georgia. Florida will travel to Columbus and look to end their winless skid at the Columbus Civic Center starting at 7:30 pm. The game can be heard locally on Talk Radio 1190 WAMT or around the world at www.1190wamt.com.
