Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, Texas - Trevor Hauver's walk-off double in the 11th inning provided the Frisco RoughRiders a 7-6 win over the Midland RockHounds on Thursday at Riders Field.
After holding Midland (14-16, 46-53) off the board in both extra innings, Frisco (17-13, 48-50) scored Jax Biggers from second on Hauver's double.
Shane McGuire (0-1) entered to pitch the 11th, intentionally walked Evan Carter and allowed Hauver to loft a ball to the warning track in right center field. John Matthews (3-2) earned the win, pitching the top of the 11th and keeping the designated runner from scoring.
Biggers had three hits on the day, adding a walk, while Liam Hicks led the team with three RBIs. Hauver's walk-off was his second hit of the day.
Frisco had taken two leads previously in the game but neither stuck. The RoughRiders came back from a 6-4 deficit in the eighth inning to force extras for the second time in the series. Midland won in 11 innings on Tuesday.
Frisco's first lead came on Chris Seise's sacrifice fly in the second inning. Hicks supplied an insurance run the next inning with a double, and then doubled again in the fourth for two runs to tie the game at 4-4.
Midland had managed the first lead change of the week, scoring four runs in the fourth inning with three infield hits to lead 4-2. The lead did not last an inning, as Hicks sent a fly ball to left center field with two outs. It dropped at the warning track to score Seise and Biggers.
Down 6-4 in the eighth, the Riders mounted a rally to score two runs. Biggers and Carter singled for the RBIs to knot the game up at 6-6.
Noah Bremer started for Frisco and took a no-decision, allowing three unearned runs in his 3.1 innings on the hill. Aidan Anderson struck out six in 3.1 innings, allowing two runs. Grant Wolfram prevented the designated runner from scoring in the 10th inning, adding a strikeout along the way.
On Friday, August 4th at 7:05 p.m., Frisco hosts Midland for the fourth game of the six-game series. RHP Dane Acker (1-0, 2.60 ERA) gets the ball for the Riders. Midland has not yet announced a starter.
The Riders will suit up as the Dallas Black Giants on Friday, honoring the barnstorming Negro Leagues team. Enjoy live jazz music in The Roadhouse Pavilion, as well as a fireworks show after the game, presented by Medium Giant. Get your tickets now at RidersBaseball.com or call 972.731.9200.
