VALENTINE'S DATE NIGHT: On Friday, the Rivermen will wear special edition Valentine's Day sweaters, which will be auctioned off live following the game! Plus, fans can purchase a pair of upper bowl tickets for just $20, or take advantage of the "Loaded Ticket," which includes a lower bowl seat, hot dog, popcorn and soda for just $15 each! BLACKHAWKS NIGHT AND $2 BEERS: Saturday marks the return of $2 draft beers as well as the first-ever Chicago Blackhawks Night, featuring an appearance from Hockey Hall-of-Famer Tony Esposito! The Blackhawks legend will sign autographs before the game and during each intermission on the concourse. Plus, the first 1,000 fans in attendance receive a 2013 Stanley Cup Champions team photo, and Blackhawks giveaways will take place throughout the night including tickets and a signed Patrick Sharp jersey.
FUN ON THE RUN FAMILY DAY: On Sunday, the Rivermen are offering $1 upper bowl tickets to kids 12 and under as well as $3 Kid's Meals, which include a hot dog, chips and a drink. Plus, giant inflatables, face painting and balloons by The Unique Twist will take place in the Great Hall beginning at 1:30 p.m. Finally, the afternoon will feature an appearance from Buzz Lightyear himself, as well as a post-game skate with the ENTIRE team on the Carver Arena ice.
HAT TRICK WEEKEND: The Rivermen (20-14-4, 44 points) begin their sixth "three games in three days" series this weekend with a Friday-Saturday doubleheader against the Fayetteville FireAntz (15-19-3, 33 points) before concluding on Sunday afternoon with the Mississippi RiverKings (22-14-3, 47 points). Overall, Peoria is just 4-8-3 in three-in-three series this year, and has been outscored 52-34 in those games. The Rivermen will play a total of nine "three games in three days" series this season.
THE STORY COMING IN: The Rivermen will enter a trio of games this weekend on a one-game slide but with points in six of their last seven and fifth in the SPHL standings - three points behind Mississippi (RiverKings) for fourth. In fact, Peoria is 6-3-1 in its last 10 games and 10-4-1 since Jan. 1 - tied with Pensacola for the second best record of the New Year. Plus, all four losses in regulation during that span have come to one team - Bloomington. The last time Peoria lost in regulation to a team not named Bloomington was Dec. 28 at Huntsville.
TOP OF THE "RANK-INGS": Speaking of Rank, the former Fayetteville net-minder enters this weekend at the top of the charts in goals against average (2.04) and save percentage (.933). Plus, over his last four starts, Rank is 4-0-0 with a 1.51 GAA and a .954 saves rate. The Islip, NY native spent eight games with the FireAntz to begin the season, where he went 5-1-0 with a 2.25 GAA and a .923 saves rate. He also spent 14 games in Fayetteville last year, going 6-5-2 overall.
LOW SCORING AFFAIRS: Peoria has not allowed more than two goals against in each of its last seven games and has held opponents under that mark in 14 of its last 16. Overall, the Rivermen are 16-4-1 when allowing two goals or less this year. Plus, the FireAntz have not scored more than two goals in each of their last six games - since Jan. 23.
PREDICTING THE OUTCOME: Peoria has been nearly flawless this season when a number of circumstances play out before the final horn. For instance, when the Rivermen score first, they are an impressive 14-3-1. Even better, Peoria is 11-2-0 when leading after the first period and a perfect 15-0-0 when leading after two.
GOING STREAKING: Peoria is on a four-game win streak at home...Tyler Amburgey is on a six-game point streak at home...Taylor Larsen is on a three-game goal streak at home and a five-game point streak at home...Kyle Rank is on a four-game win streak overall...Parker Stanfield is on a three-game point streak overall.
