RiverKings Trade Hill for Futures, Sign Schafer

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Mississippi RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser announced today that the team has traded defenseman Ryan Hill to the Knoxville Ice Bears for future considerations.

Hill, 25, signed as a rookie with the RiverKings in the offseason and appeared in 23 games with the team this season. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound native of Hermantown, Minn. tallied a goal and an assist and added 17 penalty minutes during his time in Southaven.

With the trade of Hill, the RiverKings signed forward Patrick Schafer. Schafer, 26, appeared in six games with the RiverKings on two, three-game tryout contracts. The 5-foot-10, 187-pound Hillard, Oh. native tallied three goals and one assist during his tryout.

The RiverKings also placed forward Lucas LaBelle on waivers. LaBelle, 25, joined the RiverKings after beginning the season with Danville of the Federal Hockey League. The 5-foot-8, 191-pound Toronto, Ont. native registered three goals and one assist in 14 games with the RiverKings.
