DAYTON, Ohio - Robert Hassell III picked up a pair of base hits in a 5-3 loss for the Fort Wayne TinCaps versus the Dayton Dragons (Cincinnati Reds affiliate) at Day Air Ballpark.

Hassell, who left the team days before the MLB all-star break to participate in the Futures Game, recorded his third multi-hit game in his last four appearances on Friday. The center fielder's first hit came in his first at-bat of the game. Hassell smoked a ground ball through the right side of the infield for a single. He was stranded, however, and Fort Wayne (9-13, 36-52) trailed 1-0 after one.

Hassell struck once again in the eighth inning. After the TinCaps mounted a three-run comeback to tie the game at 3-3 in the seventh, Hassell led off the next inning with a single and used his speed to advance to second on an error. Once again, the No. 1 Padres prospect was stranded, though.

Dayton (6-14, 45-41) capitalized on the missed opportunity and scored two runs in the bottom half with a two-run home run from Mat Nelson. Fort Wayne's bullpen had been stellar up to that point, spearheaded by two scoreless innings with six strikeouts from Jose Espada. The TinCaps had three chances with the tying run at the plate in the ninth but fell short.

Next Game: Saturday, July 23 @ Dayton (7:05 p.m.)
