Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - Remi Laurencelle scored twice, eight other teammates hit the scoresheet and Carter Hart recorded his ninth career shutout in a 5-0 blowout victory for the Everett Silvertips over the visiting Tri-City Americans at XFINITY Arena on Wednesday night.
The Silvertips, who have outscored visiting teams 14-2 in the last three home games, snapped a three-game winless skid while Hart recorded his second straight shutout at home and over Tri-City (he made 21 saves in a 1-0 win, last meeting in March 2015). Hart outdueled United States World Junior prospect Evan Sarthou, who was shelled with four goals on 34 shots.
Everett improved to 12-2-0 over Tri-City since the beginning of the 2013-14 season, when Kevin Constantine returned behind the bench as head coach.
Laurencelle opened the scoring for the second straight game at 11:01 of the first period, finishing Carson Stadnyk's bank off the end boards at the left circle. Cole MacDonald buried his second goal of the season from the blueline with 17 seconds to play, set up by Patrick Bajkov (1g-1a) and Matt Fonteyne for a 2-0 cushion by the end of the period.
Bajkov sniped a goal off Matt Fonteyne, setting a screen at 10:35 of the second period for a 3-0 lead with Bajkov loading up from the left circle and beating Sarthou, glove side. Tri-City, outshot 25-10 in the first two periods, surrendered an empty net goal after pulling Sarthou for an extra attacker with less than nine minutes to play in regulation. Lucas Skrumeda feathered an outlet pass to Laurencelle, who buried the goal from the red line with 8:23 to play.
Hart, who faced a relatively light amount of workload throughout the game, provided his two toughest saves, back-to-back on Jordan Topping with six minutes remaining to preserve the shutout. Jake Christiansen then finished the game with his second goal of the season, from the left circle, with 2:44 to play on a set up from Connor Dewar.
