Tri-City Americans News Release
Everett, WA- In the first meeting this season, the Everett Silvertips (12-7-0-2, 26 pts) took an early lead and Carter Hart's 26 saves helped Everett cruise to a 5-0 win over the Tri-City Americans (9-15-1-0, 19 pts) in front of 3,508 fans at Xfinity Arena on Wednesday Night.
Everett started the scoring midway through the first period, as Remi Laurencelle found twine for a 1-0 lead. Late in the first, Cole MacDonald put the Silvertips ahead 2-0 going into the second period.
Midway through the second, Everett increased the lead to 3-0 on a goal from Patrick Bajkov. The Silvertips dominated the Americans in shots, 14-6, and held the lead going into the third.
Tri-City tried to get something going in the third to spark a comeback. Laurencelle scored his second of the game with an empty net midway through the third to push the lead to 4-0. The Americans outshot Everett 16-10 in the third, but couldn't get anything past Carter Hart. Late in the third, the Silvertips capped off the win with a goal from Jake Christiansen.
Tri-City has lost two straight games overall and on the road.
The Americans spent 24 minutes in the penalty box and couldn't convert its lone power play chance. The Silvertips recorded 18 penalty minutes and didn't score with three power play attempts.
Evan Sarthou made 30 saves in the loss.
Tri-City will enjoy Turkey on Thursday and get right back to work on Friday, Nov. 27, against the Spokane Chiefs. Game time is 7:05 p.m. at the Toyota Center on Go Purple on Black Friday for Leukemia Lymphoma Society Night. The Americans lost the last meeting against the Chiefs, 8-1, in Kennewick.
