Rockets Clip T-Birds for Fourth Straight Win

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 5-2 on Wednesday night at Prospera Place winning its fourth straight game.

Rookie Kole Lind scored twice while fellow rookie Jonathan Smart had two assists to lead the offense for Kelowna.

The win improved the Rockets record to 18-5-1-0 on the season, first place overall in the WHL.

With the game tied 1-1 in the second period, rookie Jordan Borstmayer put the Rockets up 2-1, scoring his first WHL goal and point. It was assisted by Smart, a Kelowna native, also the first point of the 16-year-olds WHL career.

Lind would add his second of the night in the third before Nick Merkley added his 10th of the season on a breakaway.

Jackson Whistle earned the win in net as Kelowna outshot Seattle 33-29 on the night.

The Rockets are now off to Victoria for a pair of games this weekend in a battle between the top two teams in the WHL BC Division.

Kelowna returns home next Wednesday night to take on the Kootenay Ice at Prospera Place.
