Harrisburg Heat News Release
NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio, Nov. 10, 2013 - The Heat's frenetic pace from Saturday night's season- opening overtime victory in Detroit did not carry over here Sunday afternoon as Harrisburg fell to the expan- sion Cleveland Freeze 11-3 in a Professional Arena Soccer League match at the Soccer Sportsplex.
The Heat (1-1) fell behind 6-0 before Tyler Witmer scored his second goal of the season with 9:10 remaining in the first half.
Allen Eller, a 36-year-old forward and member of the original Heat more than a decade ago, and Josh Grossman each scored three goals for the Freeze (1-1), who were playing their home opener.
Eller's first goal came at 8:18 of the first quarter and was followed up just 12 seconds later by a goal from Mike Green that gave Cleveland a 2-0 lead. Eller's second goal at 1:15 of the third quarter pushed the Freeze's lead to 7-1. His final goal at 4:59 of the fourth quarter accounted for Cleveland's ninth goal.
Tom Mellor, whose goal Saturday just 40 seconds into overtime lifted the Heat over Detroit 8-7, cut Cleveland's lead to 8-2 with his second goal of the season at 7:25 of the third quarter. Witmer scored again at 9:55 of the fourth quarter, cutting Cleveland's lead to 10-3.
The Heat next play Saturday in Harrisburg, where they host Detroit in a 7:05 p.m. game in the Equine Arena of the State Farm Show Complex & Expo Center.
