
Harris Delivers Game Winning Hit

Norwich, CT - The Hudson Valley Renegades (34-34) defeated the Connecticut Tigers (31-37) by a score of 4-3 Wednesday night at Dodd Stadium. Off the heels of a combine seven error game Tuesday night, Wednesday night was not much better for either defense as the two teams combined for eight errors in the game. The game will be remembered for the big hit that came in the 12th inning on a go ahead RBI single by CF-LF James Harris (1-6) that scored DH Tyler Young (2-6) to give the Renegades a 4-3 lead.
The Renegades had five players with two or more its in the game. 1B John Alexander (3-4) contributed with a three hit ball game along with a run scored. C Ryan McChesney (2-5) and 3B Julian Morillo (1-4) each added an RBI in the game. Starter LHP Derek Loera pitched six strong innings allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and struck out six batter. Loera picked up the no decision.
Of the six hits for the Tigers, four of them were for extra bases. 1B Pat Leyland (2-4) contributed with two doubles and an RBI. C Duncan McAlpine (1-5) chipped in with an RBI of his own. RHP Jonathan Maciel pitched five innings in relief of RHP Austin Pritcher and struck out a season high nine batters. Maciel allowed one run over the five inning on two hits given up.
The Tigers and the Lowell Spinners play a one game series at Lowell, MA tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. LHP Alex Phillips (4-2, 3.54) takes the mound for the Tigers.
