Harrilchak's Squeeze Plates Winning Run

PEARL, MS-With the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth, Cory Harrilchak laid down a safety squeeze to plate the game-winning run. After taking three of four games from the Generals, the 5-4 win also claimed a series victory for the Braves.

In the decisive eighth inning, Ernesto Mejia walked and Willie Cabrera singled to put runners at the corners. Donell Linares loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch, and Harrilchak laid down a the bunt to plate the go-ahead run.

Mejia ultimately led the M-Braves' offense with a two-hit night at the plate. He scored two runs and drove in three on the night.

Mississippi (8-7, 33-52) plated five runs on eight hits and one error while the Generals (5-10, 43-42) managed four runs on seven hits.

Braves starter Brett Oberholtzer (5-9) went eight frames, his longest outing of the season. He limited the Generals to four runs, three earned, on six hits and four walks while fanning five.

J.J. Hoover came on in the ninth to record his first save of the season. The last time Hoover came in searching for a save, the lights went out at Trustmark Park-literally.

Jackson starter Erasmo Ramirez (6-6) went seven and 1/3 innings, giving up five earned runs on eight hits, a home run, three walks, and four strikeouts.

After two scoreless frames, Dan Nelson singled to drive in Tyler Pastornicky, thus giving the M-Braves a 1-0 lead in the third. Mejia then launched his team-leading 12th home run of the season, a three-run shot to left center, extending the Braves lead to 4-0.

The Generals got three back in the top of the fourth to make it a one-run game. Vinnie Catricala doubled and Johermyn Chavez walked. Both runners moved over on a ground out before scoring on a throwing error by Mejia to make it a 4-2 game. Carlos Triunfel followed with a RBI single to plate Joseph Dunigan.

A sac fly by Dunigan in the top of the sixth plated Catricala, tying the game at 4-4 where it remained until the eighth inning.

Right-hander Paul Clemens (6-4, 3.29) toes the rubber in game one of a four-game series at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile, AL, where he'll take on righty BayBears' Kyler Newby (4-1, 4.10). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
