Loosen Added To Smokies Roster Thursday

KODAK, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announce this afternoon that RHP Matt Loosen has been added to the team's active roster. In related roster move, LHP Chris Rusin has been promoted to the Triple-A Iowa Cubs. Both moves are immediate with Loosen being available and will start the tonight's series finale in Montgomery, Ala.

The Smokies roster currently sits at 23 active players.

Loosen is promoted to Tennessee for the first time in his very young professional career. The 22-year-old, right-hander had a combined 2-0 record with a 3.04 ERA between Low-A Peoria and High-A Daytona. The New York native was selected by the Cubs in the 23rd round of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Rusin, 24, was 3-2 with a 3.91 ERA for the Smokies in 2011. He was selected by the Cubs in the fourth round of the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
