HOOVER, Ala. - On Thursday night at Regions Park, the BayBears finished off a four-game sweep of the Birmingham Barons with a 9-4 trouncing as the BayBears recorded their sixth straight win and 10th in their last 11 contests.

Adam Eaton sparked the BayBears (49-36, 11-4) in the top of the first as he was hit by the first pitch of the night from starter Justin Edwards (3-2). A.J. Pollock replaced Eaton on the basepaths with a fielder's choice and scored when Paul Goldschmidt's single to right was misplayed by Jose Martinez. Goldschmidt came home on a double from Ryan Wheeler to make it 2-0.

Josh Ford kicked off the second inning with a single and was pushed to third by walks to Jake Elmore and Ollie Linton. A fielder's choice from Eaton scored Ford while Elmore was knocked in by a Pollock sac fly to put the BayBears up by four.

Jarrod Parker (7-6) was the beneficiary of the run support as he limited the Barons (47-38, 7-8) to just two hits in five scoreless innings. Parker walked a couple while striking out three as he won his second straight start while never allowing a Baron to reach third base.

In the fifth, the BayBears began to pull away. Eaton was hit by another pitch to lead off the frame while Wheeler and Taylor Harbin each singled to load the bases. Marc Krauss then cranked a double to left-center, unloading the bags as Eaton, Wheeler and Harbin all scored. The BayBears picked up two more in the sixth as Pollock and Goldschmidt each batted a man home.

Birmingham nicked away at the BayBear lead late with a run in the sixth and three in the eighth off the BayBears' bullpen. Eaton ended up being hit by three pitches in the game to tie a Southern League record that Ollie Linton also matched this season on May 18 against Carolina.

The BayBears are back home on Friday night to battle the Mississippi Braves at 7:05 in the first of a four-game set. There will be a Friday Night Fireworks show after the game as the BayBears start right-hander Kyler Newby (4-1) against fellow righty Paul Clemens (6-4). For tickets, which start at $5 for kids and $7 for adults, please call (251) 479-BEAR or visit www.mobilebaybears.com. You can also follow the BayBears all season long on Facebook and Twitter.
