Altoona Curve News Release

HARRISBURG - Jarek Cunningham untied a 6-6 game in the top of the 10th inning with a solo home run to left-center field that catapulted the Curve to a, 7-6, win on Wednesday afternoon at Metro Bank Park. Altoona carried a two-run lead into the ninth inning before Harrisburg's Anthony Rendon tied the game with a two-run homer to force extras. It is the Curve's second extra-innings win this season in Harrisburg and their third overall win in extras.

Cunningham's home run came with one out in the 10th off reliever Pat Lehman (1-3) and cleared the double-high wall in left-center field to break the tie. It was the second homer of the game for the Curve and the fifth home run of the season for Cunningham. The Spokane, Wash. native also homered earlier in the road trip and is now second on the team with his five home runs.

Altoona's 6-4 lead into the ninth inning was largely built with a four-run third that was highlighted by Andrew Lambo's Eastern League lead-tying seventh home run of the season that put the Curve ahead, 3-1. It followed an Adalberto Santos sacrifice fly that had tied the game at one. Lambo homered four times on the road trip and all came within his last five games.

Runs five and six for the Curve on Wednesday came courtesy of Alex Dickerson, who turned in his fourth multi-hit game of the season. Dickerson doubled in Drew Maggi and Gift Ngoepe in the fourth inning to make it a, 6-3, Curve lead.

Luis Sanz made his first start of the year for the Curve and lasted three innings before Ethan Hollingsworth was called out of the bullpen. Sanz allowed three runs (two earned) in his three innings while Hollingsworth tossed 3+ innings and gave up one run on three hits.

Charlie Cutler and Ngoepe also had solid days at the plate with Cutler grabbing two doubles and a RBI while Ngoepe reached base three times from the leadoff spot. Cunningham, Cutler, Dickerson, Ngoepe and Maggi all had two-hit days in the victory. Santos was also able to run his on-base streak to 18 games with a walk in his first at bat on Wednesday.

Finished with a six-game road trip, the Curve (13-20) now return home to welcome in the Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA - San Francisco Giants) for a 6:30 p.m. game on Thursday at Peoples Natural Gas Field. It will be a Thirsty ThursdayTM thanks to Rocky 104.9 with 16 oz. Miller Lite drafts on special for $2 while 22oz. regular sodas will be half priced.

Taking the mound in the homestand opener will be Eastern League ERA leader Stolmy Pimentel (2-0, 0.74), who makes just his third start at home this season for the Curve. He'll be opposed by Squirrels starter RHP Craig Westcott (1-3, 4.55) in the opener.

Gates for the game will swing open at 5:30 p.m. while airtime on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network is scheduled for 6 p.m. For tickets or a complete listing of promotions taking place this homestand, call 877.99.CURVE, visit AltoonaCurve.com or stop by the ticket windows at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
