Wings Stadium/K-Wings Unveil 30th Anniversary Celebration Plans

Kalamazoo, MI- Wings Stadium, which is also home to "The Annex" and "The Cube", announces the festivities for the 30th Anniversary celebration for both Wings Stadium and the Kalamazoo Wings.

Since the beginning of the calendar year, the staff of the Wings Stadium Complex have been developing unique ways for guests of the complex to join in with the celebration of this Anniversary season.

While Wings Stadium is hosting great family events in the month of September, (such as Bear in the Big Blue House, Good Charlotte, Heavyweight Boxing, and the KOHA Early Bird Hockey Tournament), the first event celebrating this year-long extravaganza will be on Saturday, November 1st, as the K-Wings play their first regular season home game against their arch rivals, the Fort Wayne Komets.

Before the game, Stadium Management Company along with special guests will unveil "A Wings Tradition". This exhibit will serve as a tribute to the rich tradition that the Wings Stadium Complex has had in southwest Michigan. Photo collages delineating the chronological history of the Wings Stadium Complex and the Kalamazoo Wings will be displayed throughout the main concourse of Wings Stadium.

All fans entering Wings Stadium on November 1st will also receive a special Anniversary-themed Magnetic Game Schedule for the upcoming season.

Fans are encouraged to stay after the game to partake in the Cool 101 Wings Stadium/Kalamazoo Wings Anniversary Retro Fest.

Wings Stadium, along with Cool 101 FM will be hosting the "30th Anniversary Retro Fest 70's Dance" in The Annex. Any fan that purchases a ticket to the K-Wings game will be permitted into the dance FREE. Individuals that want to only attend the dance can purchase a 30th Anniversary Retro Fest ticket for $10.

The 30th Anniversary festivities do not end there. Wings Stadium and the Kalamazoo Wings have made special plans for the entire year to promote safe and fun family entertainment as well as to show their appreciation to the millions of fans who have attended events at the Wings Stadium Complex over the decades. The following are just some of the special events planned for the 2003-04 season.

· 30th Anniversary logo Pucks available at the Hockey Services pro shop · 30th Anniversary logo Collectors Cup available at Concession Stands with a large Coke purchase · Retro prices on K-Wing tickets and Skate Rental Prices. · Retro Concession Prices on Different Items During the 2003-2004 Season. · Commemorative 30th Anniversary Stickers. · Special Prizes for Individuals that Spend their 30th Birthday or Anniversary with the K-Wings. · K-Wings Alumni featured on the "K-Wings Live" Weekly Coaches Radio Show and Color Commentating During K-Wings Games broadcast on the K-Wings Radio Network. · K-Wings Radio Network Features on Alumni of KOHA, Season Ticket Holders, and Corporate Partners · A Celebration to Honor our Four Millionth Fan · A Special St. Patrick's Day Green Ice Jersey Auction Benefiting the United Way.

While there isn't an exact date for the Four Millionth Fan Celebration, the K-Wings will be counting down to this historic occasion. In the course of sports, there are not many minor league sports franchises that can say four million fans have watched their team; however, that will be the case this season, as the K-Wings reach that milestone during the 2nd half of this season. The lucky individual who makes the K-Wings reach that prestigious honor will receive a special prize package.

For the past 23 seasons, the K-Wings have donated the proceeds of the St. Patrick's Jersey Auction to charity and this season will be no different, as the K-Wings are announcing that this year's recipient of the donation will be the United Way.

The United Way helps over 45 member agencies provide valuable services to our community. Over the past 30 years, the Wings Stadium Complex's main goal has been to serve the community, so the relationship with the United Way is a perfect fit.

The K-Wings are hoping to exceed last season's total of $8,000 from the St. Patrick's Jersey Auction, which was donated to the Quota Club, an organization geared to help individuals who are hearing impaired.

On the average, over 500,000 guests visit the Wings Stadium Complex in a year. From concerts, ice shows, the Harlem Globetrotters, trade shows, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), boat and car sales, youth hockey and K-Wings hockey; Wings Stadium Complex has been the top entertainment venue in the area for decades.

In April, Wings Stadium and the K-Wings unveiled their commemorative 30th Anniversary logo. This sharp-looking logo will be seen in all three buildings of the complex, as well as on the Kalamazoo Wings jerseys. Stadium Management Company owns both the Wings Stadium Complex and the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team. The Wings Stadium Complex is comprised of three buildings; Wings Stadium seats more than 5,100 fans for K-Wings home games and more than 8,000 people for concerts and other stage events. The Annex seats 1,367 for ice events and 2,850 for non-ice events such as car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube is the newer of the three facilities, that plays host to both ice and non-ice events. All three buildings are available for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
