Hanson Named FSL Player of the Week

Bradenton, Fla. - Marauders shortstop Alen Hanson has been named the Florida State League Player of the Week for the period May 20-May 26. Hanson went 11-for-25 at the plate in six games against the Tampa Yankees and St. Lucie Mets. He also walked twice, scored five runs, and had an RBI while batting leadoff in each game.

Hanson had three multi-hit games last week, including his second four-hit game of the season on May 22. In that game, a 12-4 win against Tampa, Hanson went 4-for-5 with a double and two triples.

The 20-year-old infielder is batting .290 with 10 doubles, five triples, and one home run this season. He also has 11 stolen bases and 20 RBI. MLB.com ranks Hanson as the number three prospect in the Pirates organization. Baseball America rated Hanson the fifth best prospect in the Pittsburgh system following the 2012 season.

Hanson resides in La Romana, Dominican Republic. He is in his third season of professional baseball.
