
Hanson Leads Wings Past Colts

SAN ANGELO, Texas--The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (19-19) took game two of the four game series by defeating the San Angelo Colts (20-18) 6-3 Monday night at Foster Field.
Starting pitcher Ray Hanson (4-3) tossed seven innings on eight hits, one run and striking out seven.
The Wings led off the top of the first inning with a lead off walk from Albert Carpen. Carpen would advance to third on a double play off the bat of Goose Kallunki.
Kevin Lusson would score Carpen from third on a RBI single giving the Wings an early 1-0 lead. Lusson would later score on a RBI single from Michael Garcia making it 2-0.
In the top of the second inning Andrew Deeds and Troy Zawadzki would draw back to back walks this opened the door for Roberto Ramirez. Ramirez would drive in Deeds making it 3-0.
The Wings scored three runs in the second inning as Alex Bates (3-4) was charged with the loss going one and two thirds on seven hits and five runs.
Kallunki would score on a RBI single from Carpen adding to the Wings lead making it 4-0, Ramirez would later score on a wild pitch making it 5-0 RGV.
In the top of the fourth inning Carpen would draw a lead off walk. Carpen later scored on a Ramirez RBI single extending the lead to 6-0.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Ryan Hutson would lead off with a double later scoring on a Jordan Marks RBI single cutting into the lead making it 6-1.
In the eight inning Dan Evatt would lead off with a double going off the right-center field wall. Bubby Williams would score Evatt on a RBI single trimming the lead to 6-2.
Ryan Hutson would drive in Williams cutting the lead to 6-3, as this was as close as San Angelo would get.
The win brings RGV back to the .500 mark at 19-19 on the year Roberto Ramirez had a solid night at the plate going 4-for-5 along with teammate Kevin Lusson who went 3-for-5 on the night.
There will be a double header Tuesday at Foster field with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05. AJ Smouse will be the game one starter for the WhiteWings.
