Bangor Lumberjacks News Release

Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks, a proud member of the Northeast League, announced today that the winner of the Day's Jewelers Ed Ott Commemorative Watch Giveaway is Bob Dugas of Hancock. Bob did not move from his seat for 1 hour, 36 minutes, while consuming six sodas in that time.

After being ejected in the third inning of Wednesday's Lumberjacks/Ambassadors game, Allentown manager Ed Ott refused to leave the field while sitting in a chair by the Allentown dugout, delaying the game for 43 minutes. For Thursday's game against the Ambassadors, the Lumberjacks had nine contestants sit in their seats without getting up while consuming a soda per inning. Bob outlasted all of the other eight contestants to win a $300 Citizen Echo-Drive Watch, courtesy of Day's Jewelers and the Bangor Lumberjacks.

"Congratulations to Bob for sticking it out. At the end, the banter between the last two contestants was some of the funniest stuff I have ever heard. Everyone who participated did a great job and we would like to thank them all," stated Lumberjacks General Manager Curt Jacey.

Contestants slowly dropped out, beginning in the first inning. By the time the sixth inning rolled around, Bob and Oreo were the only two contestants left. Oreo, who was extremely confident coming into the competition, decided to stand up in the sixth, giving Bob the title.

Ott, who managed not to get ejected, stuck around after the game to take a picture with Dugas and have a quick chat.

The Lumberjacks begin the final series of the 2003 season Friday night with a doubleheader against the North Shore Sprit, beginning at 5 PM on Friday. For tickets, call the Lumberjacks at (207) 947-1900.
