Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

One of the most fragile muscles in an athlete's body struck the Swing lineup again on Saturday.

CF Jim Rapoport was removed from a 1-0 win in Burlington after straining his hamstring Saturday night, and on Sunday morning he was placed on the seven-day Disabled List. In a corresponding move, IF Jared Schweitzer has been activated from the Disabled List after a hamstring injury shelved him for three weeks.

Rapoport, a speedy leadoff hitter out of Stanford, was hitting .233 for Quad Cities with a team-high nine stolen bases and 20 runs scored through 34 games played. The 21-year-old had already beaten out an infield single and stolen a base in Saturday's game before being removed midway through the action.

Schweitzer, 23, rejoins the active roster after nursing his sore hamstring on the DL since April 21. The utility infielder blasted his first professional home run in Dayton on April 20, but later in the game strained his hamstring trying to leg out a grounder to the shortstop. He was hitting .333 through six games played before the injury.

The Swing of the Quad Cities roster currently stands at 25 active players, the maximum allowed by the Midwest League. An updated roster accompanies this release.
