South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

South Bend, IN - In conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the South Bend Silver Hawks have announced that RHP Randy Hamrick has joined the team from short season A Yakima, catcher Raywilly Gomez has been activated from the disabled list, and outfielder Chris Jarrett has retired from professional baseball.

Hamrick will be making his first appearance in South Bend and joins the team after going 0-5 with a 6.42 ERA and two saves for the Yakima Bears. He has also made five appearances filling in for AAA Reno, with no record and a 2.25 ERA in 8.0 innings on the mound.

Gomez spent a week on the DL with a sore wrist and provides a welcomed bat back into the lineup. The switch-hitting catcher has the highest batting average among active players with a .280 mark.

Jarrett informed the Silver Hawks staff of his decision to retire prior to yesterday's game. He was hitting just .198 in 88 games this season.

The South Bend roster currently stands at 24 active players, plus two on the disabled list.

The Silver Hawks continue the home stand against the Bowling Green Hot Rods this evening at 7:00 PM Eastern Time at Coveleski Stadium. For more information about the Silver Hawks or to purchase tickets, please visit www.silverhawks.com.
