Hammerheads Run Away with Game Three against Miracle

Jupiter continued to shine in the second half with a 7-2 victory over the Fort Myers Miracle Saturday night.

Marlins #8 prospect Edward Cabrera threw another strong start for the Hammerheads, limiting the Ft. Myers to one run. The All-Star faced a loaded bases situation in the third, but he found his way out of that inning with three straight strikeouts. He left the mound with eight K total and finished his start with only one earned run, his fourth straight start with one earned run or less.

The Hammerheads made it onto the board first with an RBI double from Micah Brown in the second. After Ft. Myers earned a run in the fifth, Jupiter came back with two runs in the sixth, an RBI double from BJ lopez and RBI single from Victor Victor Mesa, to give the Hammerheads a 3-1 lead.

The Miracle made it a close 3-2 game with another run in the 7th, but the Hammerheads ran away with it in the bottom of the inning, earning four runs off a wild pitch, an error and four hits. Angel Reyes started with a double, then singles from James Nelson, Isael Soto and Mesa and a fielding error pushed four Hammerheads over home plate.

Mesa had an exceptional night at the plate, going 4 for 5 with three RBIs and a run. The Hammerheads as a whole had thirteen hits with all nine starters making contact at least once. On starter was Miami Marlins first baseman Neil Walker,who made a rehab appearance with the Jupiter Hammerheads and went 1-3 with a double.

Sean Guenther earned the win, pitching two innings of relief with two hits, one run and two strikeouts. Vincenzo Aiello threw a shutout close with two hits, no walks and three strikeouts.

The Hammerheads finish up the series tomorrow at 1pm at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
