THE STAKES: The Hammerheads continue their 5 game road trip looking to pick up there first win away from the American Bank Center in 2010. If Corpus Christ can accomplish that feat in Amarillo, they would get back to .500 and hand the Venom their first defeat of the season.

THE SERIES: Tonight's game is the 1st of 2 meetings between the Lone Star Division Rivals in 2010.

THE IFs:

If Corpus Christi Wins

It would win their first game on the road in the 2010 season.

They give Amarillo their first loss of the year.

It would move the Hammerheads back to the .500 mark for the year.

They would keep the possibility of having a winning road trip alive.

HEAD COACHES:

Stephen Fillmore, who is also an assistant with the West Oso Bears, played three seasons for the Hammerheads. Last year Fillmore finished second on the team in tackles with 54 including 4.5 for a loss and 2.5 sacks. "I'm excited about this opportunity and want to thank the Hammerheads for believing in me", said Fillmore. "I can't wait to get to work and start building this team to contend for a championship".

Jon Lyles comes to Amarillo after being the Associate Head coach and Offensive Coordinator for the Bossier/Shreveport Battlewings for the past three seasons. During his tenure at Bossier/Shreveport Lyles earned the high distinction of being named Arena Football 2 Assistant Coach of the year for the 2008 season. Lyles has extensive coaching experience in the Panhandle region. He served as wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator in 1999 for Oklahoma Panhandle State. Lyles moved to West Texas A&M where he coached the Wide Receivers in 2003, before becoming the offensive coordinator for Amarillo in 2004. Lyles assisted Coach Don Carthel in leading the Dusters to a President's Cup Championship that season.

DROPBACK: The Hammerheads lost last week in Little Rock Arkansas to the Diamonds 35-21.

FORWARD MOTION: Corpus Christi continues the road trip heading to Abilene Ruff Riders.

TEAM NOTES/TRENDS:

Line Woes: The Hammerheads have had to put together a number of different line combinations on both sides of the ball in 2010. While the D-Line seemed to create more pressure last week with the addition of Hickel Wollery, the O-Line continued to struggle. Both sides need a perfect game this week in Amarillo

Discipline Wanted: The Hammerheads are averaging nearly 4 turnovers per game and 58.2 penalty yards per game. Those numbers will have to improve for the team to have any chance of contending for a division title and make a deep playoff run.

Wideout: The Hammerheads WR position appears to be stabilizing with emergence of Sedale Threatt. Threat post 5 catches for 70 yards and two scores last week while Brandon Hussey broke the century mark in receiving yards for a second straight game. If the team can find a reliable third receiver, they may boast the best trio in the league.

PLAYERS/MATCHUPS TO WATCH:

Offensive and Defensive Lines: The Hammerheads are still searching for the right combination on both sides of the line. The defensive pressure was much better last week against Arkansas but will have to be even better this week. On offense,

Hammerheads Secondary: The secondary, will have their hands full with a very talented and very big Amarillo WRs. Look for the Hammerheads to press more in man coverage.

Coaching: Hammerheads Coaches are still making some questionable play calls. They look to become more consistent and go with some more high percentage plays early and on third and fourth downs.
