June 7, 2022 - Florida State League (FSL)
Jupiter Hammerheads News Release

On Tuesday night, the Jupiter Hammerheads fall to the St. Lucie Mets 9-6 at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. The Tuesday contest kick-offs a 12-game homestand for Jupiter as they welcome St. Lucie and Dunedin to town.

The Mets' offense wasted no time. Omar De Los Santos hit a solo homer on the first pitch of the game for St Lucie. In the second inning, the Mets tacked on six more runs to take a 7-0 lead early in the game.

However, Jupiter fought back. In the bottom half of the first inning, the Hammerheads plated two runs. First, it was catcher Sam Praytor driving in a run on a fielder's choice. Then Cristhian Rodriguez would score from third on a balk.

The Hammerheads would continue closing the gap in the third inning when a trio of runs scored. Ian Lewis hit an RBI double to score Jose Salas. Then on the next at-bat, Brady Allen would connect for a triple, his second of the season. The South Carolina Gamecock would quickly score following a sacrifice fly from Osiris Johnson.

With the score 7-5, the two teams would each score a run in the fourth inning. For the Hammerheads it was Jorge Caballero connecting for his third home run of the season. The solo shot had an exit velocity of 97.1 MPH as it cleared the fence in left field.

The Mets would add one more run in the sixth inning bringing the final score to 9-6 on the night.

On the mound, the Hammerheads used four different pitchers in the high-scoring affair. Gabe Bierman was the starter, but last only 1.1 innings after allowing five earned runs. Edison Suriel would come out of the bullpen first and pitched two innings. The righty allowed three runs, three hits, and struck out four batters on the night. Next up was Caleb Wurster. The southpaw pitched 2.2 innings while allowing one run. Yeuris Jimenez would pitch the final three innings for the Hammerheads. The Dominican Republic native allowed just one hit and didn't give up a run. The 21-year-old struck out five batters and now holds a 1.16 ERA on the season.

The Hammerheads and Mets will see each other for Game Two of the six-game series on Wednesday night. Join RDCS for a night of baseball bingo and win some prizes at the ballpark!
