MUSSELS DRIVE TO DAYTONA AFTER BIG WEEK AGAINST TAMPA

The Mighty Mussels drive to Daytona Tuesday to begin their only series of the season with the Daytona Tortugas (CIN). Daytona just lost five in a row in St. Lucie. The Tortugas' roster includes Twins' 2022 first-round pick Chase Petty, who was acquired by Cincinnati in exchange for Sonny Gray earlier this season.

TAMING TAMPA

Fort Myers had their way with the Tampa Tarpons at Hammond Stadium last week, winning four of the six games while out-scoring the Tarpons 33-17. A few hitters and the pitching staff put up outstanding numbers in the series:

Emmanuel Rodriguez 7-12, 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 7 BB (2.200 OPS)

Mikey Perez 5-16, 3 2B, 3B, 4 RBI (.993 OPS)

Kala'i Rosario 6-16, 2 BB, 2 HR, 6 RBI (.974 OPS)

Mike Paredes 6 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 5 K

Travis Adams 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 8 K

TEAM 4-2, 1.80 ERA (.133 AVG, 1.00 WHIP)

E-ROD IS ELECTRIC!

Mighty Mussels outfielder Emmanuel Rodriguez was named the FSL Player of the Week Monday, posting an absurd 2.200 OPS in five games against Tampa. The Twins' No. 9 prospect has been on a phenomenal tear of late:

- Last 10 Games: .520/.667/1.200 (1.867 OPS) with 4 HR, 11 RBI, 13 BB

- Leads Minor League Baseball in walks (53)

- Leads FSL in walks, runs (35) OBP (.495), SLG (.568), and OPS (1.063)

- 180 points above all FSL players in OPS

COMMANDING THE STRIKE ZONE

The Mighty Mussels' strong start is due in large part to their command of the strike zone on both sides of the ball. Entering the week, Fort Myers' hitters led the Florida State League in walks (262) and on-base percentage (.357) by a wide margin. The Mussels' pitchers have walked the fewest batters in the circuit (125), helping them post the best WHIP (1.08).

THE BEST OF THE BEST

The Mighty Mussels have proven to be one of the most successful teams in all of Minor League Baseball. Fort Myers is currently in a tie for third place with St. Lucie out of 120 teams in winning percentage:
