Clearwater Threshers News Release

BRADENTON, Fl - Fueled by a 3-for-5, two RBI performance from Jadiel Sanchez, the Clearwater Threshers pushed by the Bradenton Marauders 4-2 in the six-game series opener on Tuesday night at LECOM Park.

Right-hander Eiberson Castellano made his second start of the season on the mound for Clearwater, allowing only one run on two hits and striking out five in three innings of work.

Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, the Threshers (27-24) evened the contest on an RBI double by outfielder Leandro Pineda.

A trio of relievers in Carlos Betancourt, Jordan Fowler and Konnor Ash worked the middle innings for Clearwater, allowing a combined one run on three hits and striking out six in five innings.

After the Marauders (23-29) regained a 2-1 lead in the fifth, the Threshers responded with a big eighth inning that saw Sanchez launch his fifth home run out to right field to tie it, before catcher Arturo de Freitas singled home the go-ahead run.

Leading 3-2 in the ninth, the Threshers added an insurance run on back-to-back doubles by Wilfredo Flores and Sanchez to make it 4-2.

Righty Rodolfo Sanchez entered in the bottom of the ninth, and despite allowing two base runners, worked a scoreless frame and struck out the side to preserve the win and his second save of the season.

Clearwater and Bradenton meet again on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. Left-hander Gabriel Cotto (1-1, 4.64 ERA) is scheduled to start for the visitors, with coverage on the Threshers Broadcasting Network set for 6:20 p.m.
