Niagara IceDogs defenceman Dougie Hamilton has been named OHL Defenceman of the Month for the month of November, marking the second straight month he has received the honour.

The Boston Bruins draft pick had 15 points (four goals, 11 assists) in 11 November games, while accumulating a plus-four rating. He recorded a point in 10 of 11 games during the month, including the final nine games and with a point last night in his first December game, Dougie has established a new career high 10 game point streak.

Hamilton was recognized as a star of the game five times in November receiving first star honours on November 25 in a two-point effort with the game-winning goal plus an assist in a 6-3 victory over the Windsor Spitfires. Hamilton also recorded four assists in two games of the 2011 SUBWAY Super Series serving as captain for the game November 14 in Sault Ste. Marie which resulted in a 6-3 win for Team OHL to extend their undefeated streak to 18 straight games against Team Russia in this event.

Hamilton, an 18-year-old from Toronto, ON, is playing in his third OHL season with the IceDogs. Last season Hamilton finished third in voting for the OHL Defenceman of the Year Award but claimed both OHL and CHL Scholastic Player of the Year honours. Selected ninth overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Hamilton leads all defencemen and is currently ranked fifth in overall league scoring with 41 points in 26 games. Hamilton was one of 15 OHL players invited to Canada's National Junior Team Selection Camp which opens December 10 in Calgary, AB, where he will be joined by fellow IceDogs teammates Freddie Hamilton, Ryan Strome and Mark Visentin.
