Hamilton Hosts Manitoba And Travels To Rochester This Week

The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will compete in three match-ups this week. The 'Dogs will wrap up their five game home stand when they host the Manitoba Moose (AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks) on Friday, March 13th at 7:30 p.m., as well as Saturday, March 14th at 7:00 p.m. Hamilton will then head to Rochester on Sunday, March 15th to face off against one of their North Division rivals, the Rochester Americans (AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers) at 6:05 p.m. at Blue Cross Arena.

The Bulldogs went 3-1-0-0 this past week, bringing their record to 39-24-2-0. The 'Dogs travelled to Syracuse on Tuesday, March 3rd and defeated the Crunch 3-2 in overtime. On Friday, March 6th Hamilton started their five-game home stand against the Toronto Marlies, and were victorious with a 2-0 shutout. The Bulldogs continued their winning streak on Saturday, March 7th, shutting out the Syracuse Crunch 3-0. Wrapping up the week, the 'Dogs had their streak snapped in a 4-3 loss to the Toronto Marlies.

- Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced on Monday, March 2nd that the club has signed left wing Andrew Conboy to a three-year National Hockey League contract (2009-2010 to 2011-2012)

- On Tuesday, March 3rd Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced that forward Kyle Chipchura has been assigned from the Canadiens to the Hamilton Bulldogs

- G Cedrick Desjardins held a shutout streak of 148:35 after recording back-to-back shutouts on Friday, March 6th and Saturday, March 7th. The streak ended in the second period on Sunday, March 8th in a 4-3 loss to the Toronto Marlies. The streak was only 9:34 shy of the Bulldogs' franchise mark for longest shutout streak by a goaltender and team.

- Bulldog RW Sergei Kostitsyn is on a four game point streak that started March 3rd and has seen him accumulate total of four points (two goals, two assists)

- Hamilton C Ryan Russell is also currently on a four game point streak that started March 3rd and has seen him earn total of four points (three goals, one assist)

ALUMNI WATCH:

There are currently over 40 former Bulldogs in the NHL at this time. Over 60 percent of the players on Hamilton's all-time roster have played in a minimum of one NHL game. Three former Bulldogs head or assistant coaches (Doug Jarvis, Claude Julien, and Geoff Ward) are currently in a coaching capacity in the NHL. Here are a few highlights and accomplishments of ex-'Dogs from this past week:

- Dallas C Mike Ribeiro added six points this past week, earning an assist in a 4-1 win over San Jose (Mar. 3), a goal and an assist in a 4-5 OT loss to Los Angeles (Mar. 5), a marker and an assist in a 3-2 victory over Anaheim (Mar. 6), and a helper in a 3-1 loss to Montreal (Mar. 8)

- Los Angeles C Jarrett Stoll picked up two points this past week with a goal and a helper in a 4-5 losing effort to Columbus (Mar. 3)

- Dallas C Steve Ott scored four points last week, picking up a goal and an assist in the 4-5 OT loss to Los Angeles (Mar. 5) and two helpers in the 3-2 win over Anaheim (Mar. 6)

- Detroit RW Daniel Cleary earned two points this past week, picking up an assist in a 5-0 win over St. Louis (Mar. 3) and another helper in an 8-2 defeat to Columbus (Mar. 7)

In addition Cable 14 will air live broadcasts 12 of club's 39 home games at Copps Coliseum. In a joint venture with Mohawk College, Cable 14 will also broadcast the 27 Hamilton Bulldogs' home games not being shown live in their entirety as 'Dogs-in-an-Hour at 11:00 p.m. on the night of the game.

Cable 14 will also carry Rogers Television's live coverage of five Hamilton Bulldogs versus Toronto Marlies games at Ricoh Coliseum.

BULLDOUGS FOUNDATION:

Ryan White was named as the Community Player of the Month for January. Throughout January, Ryan dedicated his time in support of various Bulldogs Foundation sponsored events. Despite his commitment to training and his hard work on the ice, Ryan managed to find time in his schedule to give back to the community by visiting schools in an effort to encourage and inspire youth throughout Hamilton.

Ryan White and Brock Trotter visited the Meadowlands LCBO for a PMA/Appletons Jamaica Rum promotion on Saturday, February 7th. Cedrick Desjardins and David Desharnais visited the Millcroft LCBO for a PMA/Appletons Jamaica Rum promotion on Saturday, February 7th.
