Moose Notes

50/50 IN A SHOOTOUT: On Friday night, the Moose earned their fifth shootout victory of the season bringing their total to five wins and five losses in the ten shootouts they have faced so far. Goaltenders Cory Schneider and Karl Goehring have earned two of the victories while Curtis Sanford has earned one. Last season, the Moose only forced a shootout seven times and only earned wins in three of them.

SHUTOUT FOR SCHNEIDER: Cory Schneider stopped all 29 shots faced in Saturday night's 2-0 win over Providence, earning the club's seventh shutout of the season, 71st in franchise history and fifth in this campaign for Schneider. The most shutouts Manitoba has ever posted in a single season is eight in 2005-06, led by that season's league shutout leader Wade Flaherty, who earned six in 49 games played. With 15 games left this regular season, the Moose are on par to break the current record set in 2005-06.

Upcoming Opponents

The Manitoba Moose are back on the road for a six-game stretch that will begin in Hamilton on Friday, March 13th and end in Rockford on Saturday, March 23rd. This road trip will close out the club's season series with Rochester, Chicago and Rockford.

Player of the Week Nominee

Cory Schneider

For the second time this season, Moose netminder Cory Schneider is the nominee for AHL Player of the Week. This week, the Marblehead, MA native stopped 60 of 62 shots in his two victories over the Atlantic Division-leading Providence Bruins. Friday, Schneider stopped 31 of 33 shots to lead the Moose to a 3-2 shootout win, including stopping three of four shots in the shootout itself. Then on Saturday, he collected his fifth shutout of the season by stopping all 29 shots he faced in a 2-0 win. As a result, he is STILL the league's leading goalie as he has been for almost every week since the beginning of November. Schneider currently leads the AHL with a 1.70 GAA and a .935 save percentage with a 23-5-1 record in 30 appearances. This past week, Schneider had a goals against average of 0.96 and a save percentage of .967. He is currently on pace to smash a number of franchise records for goalies including wins (26-Wade Flaherty '05-06), goals against average (2.17, Drew MacIntyre '06-07), save percentage (.922, MacIntyre '06-07), shutouts (6 - Flaherty '05-06).
