Niagara IceDogs News Release
Freddie Hamilton and Ryan Strome both recorded two points as the Niagara IceDogs knocked off the Kitchener Rangers in the second game of a home-and-home series.
In the first, the game remained scoreless until 18:29 into the period when Rangers overage defenceman Cody Sol scored on a power play to give Kitchener a 1-0 lead. That lead would not last long however, as David Pacan recorded his tenth goal of the season by beating John Gibson twelve seconds later. Chris Festarini, playing in just his second game for the IceDogs, made eight saves in the first period.
The goaltenders would take over in the second period as Festarini and Gibson held both teams scoreless in the frame, taking a 1-1 game into the second intermission.
Niagara would break the deadlock just over five minutes into the third period with a goal from Dougie Hamilton, his eighth of the season. Freddie Hamilton would add an insurance marker to increase the IceDogs lead to 3-1. Ryan Strome would record assists on both third period goals. Chris Festarini would shut the door the rest of the way to preserve the win.
The IceDogs next home game will be one week from tonight, on Saturday, November 12th vs. Windsor Spitfires.
