Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

JACKSONVILLE, FL– Jacksonville Suns Manager Dino Ebel, catcher Tony Socarras, pitcher Ryan Minor, infielder Nick Alvarez, trainer Tony Cordova and third baseman Brennan King will get their hair trimmed and styled before their game on Aug. 1 to launch Hair Cuttery's fifth annual Share-A-Haircut campaign that sends Jacksonville's underprivileged children back to school with new looks and a stronger sense of self-esteem.

Jacksonville Suns Manager Dino Ebel and several Jacksonville Suns players will sit down in Hair Cuttery stylists' chairs for their haircuts on Friday, Aug. 1 at 5:45 p.m. on the Main Concourse of the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville at 1201 East Duval St. The players also will meet with children in foster care and awaiting adoption served by the Florida Department of Children & Families, who will enjoy haircuts as part of the Share-A-Haircut campaign.

"I think this is a wonderful program that Hair Cuttery is supporting, and I'm proud to have my players be a part of it," Ebel said. "I have no doubt that I'll get out of the chair looking even better than I did when I sat down!

The Jacksonville Suns, the Class AA affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, are currently second in the Eastern Division with a 14-10 second-half record. They will play on August 1 their second game of a four-game series against the Chattanooga Lookouts at 7:35 p.m.

Hair Cuttery's Share-A-Haircut campaign works like this: for every child's haircut purchased from August 1-15 at any Jacksonville area Hair Cuttery salon, Hair Cuttery will donate a free haircut to an underprivileged child in foster care or awaiting adoption with the Florida Department of Children & Families. The Share-A-Haircut is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, having donated over 7,000 haircuts in the past four years to Jacksonville children in need.

"In the Jacksonville area, stylists with 31 salons are busy getting ready to kick off the 2003 Share-A-Haircut campaign and they hope to reach their goal of donating 2,500 back-to-school haircuts, valued at $25,000, to underprivileged children in our community," said Hair Cuttery Market Leader Tammy Hoyt in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville area's 31 salons and their 250 stylists will join 754 Hair Cuttery salons across the nation to achieve a national goal of 50,000 donated cuts valued at half-a-million dollars. Hundreds of salons across the country in major markets, such as Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Richmond and Raleigh will celebrate the Share-A-Haircut campaign's fifth anniversary with special activities.

Hair Cuttery is the nation's largest, privately held chain of full-service, value-priced hair salons operating exclusively on a no-appointment basis. With 800 salons on the East Coast and in the Midwest, Hair Cuttery is known for bringing communities a variety of hair care services.
