Grand Prairie, TX. The American Association TeamLine Direct Batter of the Week was announced today and headlined Grand Prairie AirHogs standout first/third baseman Cesar Nicolas. This is the second time he has been honored with the award this year, putting him on the short list of the few that have been nominated twice during the first half.

The award stems from an outstanding 12 for 26 (.461) week versus El Paso and Sioux Falls, with 9 RBI, 5 runs scored, 3 doubles, a homerun and a stolen base. His numbers for the weekend alone featured 7 of the 9 RBIs and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

Selected in the fifth round of 2004 amateur draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks, Nicolas has extensive experience in affiliated ball. So far he has led Grand Prairie offensively and tops the American Association in RBIs. Due to his leadership and consistently hot bat, the AirHogs overcame a slow start and have spent most of the first half on the cusp of first place. They raised their offensive productivity over the past couple of series and enjoyed a winning June, while they currently hold a pace for their most successful month yet.

The AirHogs take on the Shreveport-Bossier Captains starting tonight at 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6 p.m. For tickets, call 972.504.9383 or visit www.airhogsbaseball.com.
