Nicolas, Neitz American Association Players Of The Week

DURHAM, NC - PA-Sportsticker, the American Association's official statistician, has selected Grand Prairie AirHogs INF Cesar Nicolas and El Paso Diablos RHP Josh Neitz as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

This is the second time this season Nicolas has won the Batter of the Week award. In six games this past week, Nicolas batted .462 with one home run, nine RBI and 12 hits. He also scored five runs, stole a base and slugged .692. In Sunday's 11-10 victory over the Sioux Falls Canaries, the 27-year-old went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and four RBI. Currently on the year, Nicolas is hitting .331 with six home runs and 47 runs batted in. He is first in RBI and fourth in runs scored with 37.

The Miami, FL resident was a fifth round selection of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2004. He spent the past four seasons in the Diamondbacks organization.

Neitz threw a complete game shutout in the 6-0 win over the Grand Prairie AirHogs this past Wednesday. He allowed one walk and four hits while striking out five Grand Prairie batters. The Tampa, FL resident is 2-1 with a 3.93 ERA in 50 1/3 innings pitched.
