The Suns conclude their four-game set with the Rome Braves today at 2:00 p.m. at State Mutual Stadium. Hagerstown sends RHP Tomas Alastre (3-6, 5.91 ERA) to the bump, while Rome picks righty Alan Rangel (5-4, 4.95 ERA) to start.

SUNS SUFFER FIRST LOSS IN THE SECOND HALF: A late rally was not enough to push the Suns past the Rome Braves in a 5-3 loss at State Mutual Stadium Saturday. The Suns (32-41) trailled 4-0 early, but rallied back to make it a 4-3 game in seventh. However, the offense couldn't get the big hit to draw even, and Rome (31-41) took game three of the four-game series. Francys Peguero (L, 2-6) got the start for Hagerstown, but did not receive any early help from his defense. A two-out error in the first inning kept the frame alive, and then Shea Langeliers hit his first home run of the season to put the Braves up 2-0. Langeliers struck again against Peguero in the fourth when his RBI single made it a 4-0 game after Braden Shewmake had already driven in a run earlier in the inning. Pegeuro didn't make it out of the fifth, and ended up going 4.2 innings and allowing two earned runs on eight hits in his first start of the second half. Despite his team-best 2.62 ERA, the Suns are now just 3-11 in games in which Peguero gets the ball.
MASHING MARINCONZ: Kyle Marinconz has been mashing the ball through the month of June. After entering June hitting .233 with one homer and 12 RBI, he has improved his average to .265 while mashing three homers and driving in nine RBI across the first 21 days of the month. In his last six games he is hitting .400 (8-for-20) and in the month of June he has roped a .357/.429/.536 line. His average is the second-highest average in the South Atlantic League since the start of the month. Michael Gigliotti has a .373 mark across 16 games for the Lexington Legends since June 1.
COMEBACK CODY: The wayward lead-off hitter has turned a new leaf in his last 11 games. Cody Wilson, who led the South Atlantic League in strikeouts and was hitting below the Mendoza line entering the month of June has found his stroke since June 8. Since then he is hitting .317 (13-for-41) including his current three-game hitting streak. Wilson has also been more selective at the plate walking five times over that period compared to eight strikeouts.
NEW KID IN TOWN: Reid Schaller has been promoted to Hagerstown from Extended Spring Training. Schaller joins RHP Chandler Day as former Vanderbilt Commodores to play in Hagerstown this season. The 6'3" righty was picked in the third round of last year's draft prior to splitting time between the GCL and Auburn. He finished the season with a 2-3 record and a 4.65 ERA in 12 starts across both levels. He fanned 32 batters in 40.2 innings in MiLB last year. He is scheduled to start tomorrow's game at Hickory.
LIKING THE ROAD: Jake Irvin has been great on the road this season. After last night's quality start where he allowed just three hits and one run over the course of six innings, the Oklahoma-product has now recorded three of his four quality starts this season on the road.
TREMENDOUS TURNER: Trey Turner was activated from Extended Spring Training May 8, since then, he has appeared in eight games, spinning 12.1 innings and punching out 23 batters. Opponents are merely hitting .119 against him in the time he's been in the South Atlantic League.
SUN SPOTS: The bats are putting together some of their best numbers of the year to open up the second half. Through the first three games of this series, Hagerstown is hitting 9-for-33 (.273) with runners in scoring position.
