Hagen's Homer Leads Patriots To 6-5 Win In 10

YORK, PA- The Somerset Patriots defeated the York Revolution 6-5 in ten innings in front of 3,294 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Somerset broke a 5-5 tie with a run in the top of the tenth inning to take a 6-5 lead when third baseman Matt Hagen led off with a solo home run (5) to left.

The Patriots scored an unearned run in the top of the second inning to take an early 1-0 lead. Rightfielder Ryan Radmanovich drew a walk, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and a fielder's choice and came around to score on a Revolution fielding error on a line drive to third off the bat of centerfielder Sean Smith.

Somerset added a run in the top of the third inning to extend their lead to 2-0 when leftfielder Michael Ryan led off with a single to right, advanced to third on a single off the left field wall by designated hitter Brandon Larson and scored on a sacrifice fly to left by first baseman Josh Pressley.

The Revolution rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead. First baseman Matt Dryer drew a lead off walk and came around to score on a two run home run (4) to left by centerfielder Matt Esquivel. Designated hitter Tyler Von Schell drew a one out walk, advanced to third on a double down the left field line by third baseman Jake Daubert and scored on a RBI double to left center by catcher Luis Taveras.

The Patriots answered with three runs in the top of the sixth inning to retake the lead at 5-3. Radmanovich led off by being hit by a pitch, he advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and score on a RBI ground rule double to right by second baseman David Housel. Shortstop Elliott Ayala then lined a two out RBI single to left that plated Housel and Ryan followed with a RBI double to left center that scored Ayala.

York tied the game at 5-5 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning when shortstop Keoni DeRenne hit a two out double down the right field line and came around to score on a two run home run (2) to left by leftfielder Chris Ashby.

Patriots' reliever Casey Cahill (3-1) picked up the win, throwing a scoreless 0.1 of an inning allowing one intentional walk. Revolution reliever Nick McCurdy (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing one run on three hits while walking none and striking out two in 2.1 innings of work. Patriots' reliever Brian Reith pitched a scoreless ninth for his first save of the 2008 season.

With the win the Patriots improved to 27-17 on 2008 season while the Revolution dropped to 16-29.

The 2008 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Thursday, June 19th when the Patriots return to Commerce Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 pm game against the Bridgeport Bluefish.
