Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

WINNIPEG - There might not have been any joy in Mudville but on Saturday night, June 2, there was plenty of joy in Winnipeg.

That's when Casey Haerther, the Goldeyes own Casey at the Bat, struck a mighty blow for Winnipeg Harvest as he blasted a one-out home run off the Peak of the Market Foul Pole.

It was a solo blast in the second inning and it tied the game with Fargo at 1-1. Experts close to the play couldn't agree if the ball hit the cabbage, the rutabaga or the broccoli, but one thing was not in doubt: It was a home run and it meant something to the people in the city who need Winnipeg Harvest's services.

As part of a season-long promotion, if a Goldeyes player hits a home run off the Peak of the Market Foul Pole, Peak of the Market and its growers will generously donate 10,000 pounds of fresh Peak of the Market vegetables to Winnipeg Harvest. Our own Casey at the Bat delivered that home run and Winnipeg harvest won.

"It's usually not a good thing when a baseball hits veggies, but in this case, it's great," said Larry McIntosh, President & CEO, Peak of the Market. "The Winnipeg Goldeyes get a home run and, more importantly, Winnipeg Harvest gets fresh vegetables."

Goldeyes Director of Sales and Marketing, Dan Chase, is proud of the ball club's friendship with Peak of the Market.

"Here at the Goldeyes, we value our long-term partnership with Peak of the Market and appreciate their continuing support of Winnipeg Harvest," said Chase. "It's these long, close, professional relationships that make working for the betterment of our community so rewarding for all of us."

Thanks to Casey Haerther and Peak of the Market - Manitoba's Best Vegetables!
