
Gwinnett loses in extra innings, 10-9

The Lead: The Buffalo Bisons beat the Gwinnett Braves 10-9 in 11 innings at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, New York Friday night in game two of the four-game series. The Braves had forced extra innings with three runs in the eighth and two in the ninth. The two ninth-inning runs came on a two-run homer from Brandon Hicks with two outs. It was the second straight extra inning game between the Braves and Bisons, with Gwinnett winning the first game on Thursday in 10 innings by an 8-7 score.
It Was Over When: Buffalo leadoff batter Jesus Feliciano singled to right off Craig Kimbrel in the bottom of the 11th. The single scored Russ Adams with the winning run. Adam had walked to lead off the inning and then was bunted to second by Jorge Padilla.
Braves Beat:
On the Mound: LHP Scott Diamond, just up from Double-A Mississippi had a rough first Triple-A start: 3.0 IP, 6H, 6R/ER, 2BB, 6K. Vladimir Nunez worked the fourth, fifth and sixth: 3.0 IP, 3H, 3R, 2ER, 1BB, 2K. Corey Gearrin, Lee Hyde, also just up from Double-A, and Stephen Marek combined for four innings of shutout baseball. Craig Kimbrel suffered the loss (2-1) pitching in the bottom of the 11th and allowing the winning run to score.
At the plate: The G-Braves had a season high four homers in the game. Mitch Jones hit two, to up his team lead to 17. His first homer, a three-run shot in the first inning gave the Braves an early 3-0 lead. He also hit a solo homer to lead off the 8th. He finished 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs. J.C. Boscan also hit a homerun, his 3rd of the season. He finished 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Hicks had the other homer. He was 1-for-6 with two RBIs. Wes Timmons was 2-for-5 and Nate McLouth 2-for-6
The opposition:
On the Mound: LHP Pat Misch started the game and left after six innings with a 9-5 lead. His line: 6.0 IP, 7H, 4R/ER, 3BB, 3K. Ryota Igarashi worked the seventh and part of the eighth: 1.2 IP, 5H 3R/ER, 1BB, 1K. Manny Acosta enters in the eighth and gave up the two-run tying homer by Hicks: 2.1 IP, 2H, 2R/ER, 2BB, 0K. Jose De La Torre got the win with a scoreless 11th: 1.0 IP, 2BB, 1K.
At the plate: Feliciano's game-winning hit in the 11th was his only hit of the night. He was 1-for-6. Luis Hernandez continued his hot hand going 4-for-5 with 2 RBIs. Mike Jacobs was 2-for-5 with a solo home run, his 15th of the season. Adams, who scored the winning run, was 2-for-4 with 2 runs.
On Deck: The Braves and Bisons play game three of the series in Buffalo Saturday night. First pitch at 7:05 p.m. RHP Cristhian Martinez (2-1, 4.54 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Braves. Buffalo will start LHP Oliver Perez (0-0, 0.00 ERA).
