LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - The Gwinnett Braves have announced the recipient of their $1,000 grant for the month of April. Mountain View Cross Country Booster Club, Inc. has been awarded the "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" themed grant, which is aimed at funding an organization that promotes youth athletics or activities.

The booster club provides support for the student-athletes and coaches who participate as active members of the Mountain View Cross Country team. It gives coaches, athletes, staff and parents a supportive environment that allows the focus of the program to be solely on the athletes.

Serving the area around Coolray Field, including Lawrenceville, Dacula, Buford and Hoschton, the booster club sees the academic, personal, athletic and professional development of the young men and women who run cross country as paramount. The members of the booster club provide cheer support, personal and athletic development and financial support for activities that benefit the athletes and their development. The $1,000 grant awarded by the Gwinnett Braves will be applied toward construction of boardwalks to their on-site wooded trails, allowing athletes to train safely on the trails and stay off public roads.

"On behalf of the students, parents and coaches of the Mountain View High School Cross Country Program, I would like to extend our appreciation to the Gwinnett Braves for their generosity and support of our student athletes," said Bill Keller, President of the Mountain View Cross Country Booster Club. "This grant will assure that our athletes can safely practice and train on school property."
