Harrisburg Senators News Release
Harrisburg, PA - Another sparkling pitching effort by the Harrisburg Senators carried them to a 4-2 win over the Bowie Baysox, Sunday at Commerce Bank Park. RHP Bobby Brownlie picked up another win and a trio of Harrisburg relievers combined for four scoreless innings to cement the victory.
The Baysox looked primed for a big inning in the top of the 1st. Jonathan Tucker drew a leadoff walk and went to third on a single by Mike Rodriguez. Two batters later, Nolan Reimold drove a fly ball to deep left, but Marvin Lowrance made a leaping catch against the fence to take away a home run. Rodriguez left too early from second base and was called out for an inning-ending double play, but Tucker had scored prior to the third out being recorded to make it 1-0.
In the bottom of the 1st, the Senators had a big two-out rally. Bill Rhinehart walked with two down, Johnny Estrada singled and Luis Jimenez walked to load the bases. Garrett Guzman followed with a three-run triple to the gap in right-center to give Harrisburg a 3-1 lead.
The Baysox plated a run in the top of the 4th when Lou Montanez tripled to lead off the inning and scored two batters later on an RBI double by Matt Wieters to cut it to 3-2.
The Senators came right back with a run in the bottom of the 4th. They loaded the bases with nobody out and Marco Yepez lifted a sacrifice fly to center to make it 4-2.
The Harrisburg bullpen took it from there as RHPs Beltran Perez, Carlos Martinez and Adam Carr combined for four scoreless innings of relief.
Brownlie notched the win, allowing two runs in five innings to stay perfect at 8-0 with Harrisburg. RHP Kyle Schmidt took the loss to fall to 0-2 for Bowie. Carr worked a perfect 9th inning to collect his 7th save of the year.
The Senators improved to 53-41. The Baysox dipped to 53-43.
The Senators and Baysox finish the four-game series Monday at Commerce Bank Park in a 12:05 PM start. It will be a battle of Eastern League All-Stars as RHP Jordan Zimmermann (4-2, 3.68 ERA) starts for Harrisburg. Bowie counters with RHP Chris Tillman (7-3, 3.12 ERA).
