Grrrowl Announce First Official Player Signings

GREENVILLE, SC â The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL have announced the signing of nine players from the 2003-04 team that qualified for the first round of the Kelly Cup playoffs. The signing of the players is made official with the end of the PHPA player's strike that was announced earlier Tuesday.
The four top scorers return, along with some steady performers that were with the Grrrowl for the majority of the season, and one young standout that made an impact at the end of the regular season, and the playoffs. The returning players are:
FORWARDS: (regular season stats)
Matt Demarski (72 games; 63 points â 25G, 38A; 59 PIM)
Tyler Deis (72 games; 62 points â 24G, 38A; 158 PIM)
Peter Flache (3 games; 3 points â 2G, 1A; 9 PIM)
Mike Henderson (70 games; 54 points â 19G, 35A; 18 PIM) *Total stats for the season (3 teams)
Chris Lynch (66 games; 49 points â 21G, 28A; 146 PIM) *Total stats for the season (2 teams)
John Nail (66 games; 23 points â 11G, 12A; 54 PIM) *Total stats for the season (2 teams)
DEFENSE: (regular season stats)
Rico Fatticci (58 games; 12 points â 2G, 10A; 46 PIM)
Mark Gouett (63 games; 16 points â 5G, 11A; 42 PIM)
Josh Legge (59 games; 8 points â 2G, 6A; 91 PIM)
*Additional signings and the updated training camp roster will be released on Wednesday, October 1st.
Two moves were made earlier in the summer, with Jonathan Gauthier being traded to the Alaska Aces for financial considerations on August 27, 2003, and on September 16th, Krzysztof Weickowski was traded to the Long Beach Ice Dogs for financial considerations.
"We are excited and relieved that the two sides in this strike were able to work professionally and hammer out a deal that is a win-win for all parties," stated John Marks, Greenville Grrrowl VP of Hockey Operations and Head Coach. "We are fortunate to have many players returning to Greenville, all of which were a big part of last years' team. All of these players worked hard to develop their own skills, and will see the fruits for their labor this season. At the same time, I am excited about the young guys who will be joining us for training camp, and they will fit into our plans very nicely. The bottom line is â the fans are anxious to get started, and so am I."
Training camp will open with the first on-ice workout on Sunday, October 5th at 9:30am at the BI-LO Center. All practices are open to the public â doors will open at 9:00am.
The Grrrowl have released the 2003-04 schedule, including "Opening Night presented by Verizon Wireless, on October 24th against the Charlotte Checkers at 7:05 PM.
