FRESNO, Calif. – The ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association (PHPA) have agreed on a framework for resolution of their labor dispute, ending the player strike against the ECHL.

Major principles of the Collective Bargaining Agreement have been agreed upon, but are subject to finalization by the counsel of both the ECHL and the PHPA.

"The agreement is an extremely positive step for the ECHL and our players. We would like to thank the fans for their patience throughout the process," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. "The deal is fair for our players and allows our owners to move forward with cost certainty. It is now time to focus on hockey and our fans can look forward to an expanded and more competitive league in what promises to be our most exciting season ever."

"It is a day of relief for not only [Assistant Coach] Greg Spenrath and me but I'm sure for our players and our fans, as well," added Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Blaine Moore. "Now our fans will have the chance to see a true ECHL team come our season opener on Oct. 17 with players that have the potential to play in the NHL or AHL."

The Falcons will hold their first on-ice session of training camp on Oct. 6 at Gateway Ice Center in preparation for the season opener on the 17th in Bakersfield against the Condors. The club plays its inaugural home opener in the Save Mart Center at Fresno State on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 5 p.m. also against the Condors following an 11-game road trip to open the campaign.

Season tickets to see the Falcons play at the Save Mart Center in 2003-04 are now on sale with mini-packs beginning as low as $48. Call the Falcons at 485-PUCK (7825) or visit www.fresnofalcons.com for more information.
