Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, Idaho - It's full speed ahead as the Idaho Steelheads prepare for their inaugural ECHL season. The ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association Tuesday announced both sides have agreed on a framework for resolution of their labor dispute, and the ECHL has announced that it has been notified by the PHPA that the player strike against the ECHL has ended.

Major principles of the Collective Bargaining Agreement have been agreed upon, but are subject to finalization by the counsel of both the ECHL and the PHPA.

Steelheads head coach John Olver said, "We were confident all along that a settlement would be reached, because in the end, we all wanted to play hockey. Now we can really focus on putting our team together and preparing for the season."

In a statement released by the league, ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna said, "The agreement is an extremely positive step for the ECHL and our players. We would like to thank the fans for their patience throughout this process. The deal is fair for our players and allows our owners to move forward with cost certainty. It is now time to focus on hockey and our fans can look forward to an expanded and more competitive league in what promises to be our most exciting season ever."

The Steelheads open training camp October 5th in McCall with the first of three exhibition games to be played on October 8th. The team will return to Boise to play exhibition games on October 10th and 11th at the Bank of America Centre. All game times are 7:05 p.m.

Exhibition game tickets are available at the Manchester Centre by calling (208)634-3570, and at the Bank of America Centre by visiting any Select-A-Seat outlet, by calling 331-TIXS (8497), or by logging on to www.idahotickets.com or www.idahosteelheads.com.

For regular season action, the Steelheads are offering a "Steel-A-Deal," which gives fans $1.00 off any 12-pack Pepsi product purchased at Jacksons throughout the season by redeeming any game ticket stub at a participating Jacksons store. The Steel-A-Deal also includes a coupon for $5.00 FREE gas at Jacksons with any $15 or more ticket purchased on Opening Night, October 17th against the Las Vegas Wranglers.
