Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Fresno, CA - The Fresno Grizzlies scored three runs over their final two innings to come from behind and defeat the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Tuesday night, winning by a final of 5-4.
A two-out wild pitch scored the winning run for Fresno, as Rancho dropped their second straight overall, losing the opening game of the six-game series at Chukchansi Park.
Leading 4-2 in the eighth, the Quakes' bullpen couldn't hold the lead, as the Grizzlies got to Dilan Figueredo and Connor Godwin to even the game at 4-4.
In the ninth, Godwin (2-4) walked the first man he faced and eventually left the game with the bases loaded and no outs.
Ryan Brown came on and with a five-man infield behind him, struck out the first two hitters he faced.
With the defense reset and two outs, Brown misfired with a two-strike pitch to Kevin Fitzer, as Yeiker Reyes came in to score the winning run.
Fresno's Nathan Blasick (3-2) struck out all three batters he faced in the ninth for the win.
Samuel Munoz (11) smashed a solo homer to help build a 4-2 Rancho lead in the eighth.
The Quakes (13-18) will send Jesus Tillero (0-0) to the mound on Wednesday, as he'll take on Brody Brecht (0-2) of Fresno at 6:5pm.
The Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 5, as they host Lake Elsinore for a six-game set. Tuesday, August 5 will be another Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as fans can log on to the website and learn how to score a free Club Seat Ticket to the game. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com.
