Grizzlies Sign Left-Handed Pitcher Kolby Moore

April 24, 2012 - Frontier League (FL)
Gateway Grizzlies News Release

The Gateway Grizzlies have added depth to their bullpen with the addition of left-handed hurler, Kolby Moore.

Moore, 22, is no stranger to the Frontier League. He threw for the River City Rascals in 2011 and went 1-0 with a 9.00 ERA in 16 relief appearances. The Indianola, IA, native walked seven batters while striking out 15 in 13 innings of action.

"Kolby didn't put up great numbers with River City last season, but he was just a rookie and we feel he has a lot to offer here at Gateway," Grizzlies sixth-year manager Phil Warren said. "He's a left-handed arm and will be a valuable piece of our pitching staff."

Moore played college baseball for Division II powerhouse Ouachita Baptist University. The 6-2 200-pound lefty went 9-5 during his senior year with the Tigers, compiling a 4.04 ERA. Moore led the team with 67 strikeouts in 78 innings of work. He appeared 15 times, making 12 starts, and was named to the All-Gulf Shore Conference first team.

"He played at a University that's known for their baseball and he performed at a high-level," Warren mentioned. "He has the talent to be a solid pitcher in this league and we hope he performs like we feel he can."

The Grizzlies open their season on May 18th against the reigning Frontier League Champion, Joliet Slammers. Single game, season and group tickets are on sale now. For more information call 618.337.3000.
