Southern Illinois Miners News Release

MARION, Ill. - The Rotary Club of Carbondale (Noon) and the Southern Illinois Miners are teaming up to outfit all second graders at Thomas School in Carbondale with bike helmets on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 8:30 am at the Thomas School.

The Rotary Club of Carbondale annually provides helmets for each second grade student, along with a presentation of do's and don'ts for helmet fitting and safety. This year, two Miners players, Matt Fields and Sean Coughlin, along with Miners Coach Ralph Santana will be on hand to present the helmets - along with an appearance by a Miners mascot.

Please contact Rotarian and Miners Executive Vice President Erik Haag, the event chairperson, for more information.

"I've been a member of the Rotary of Carbondale for more than a year now and this is a great way for the Miners to partner with an excellent Carbondale civic group and a Carbondale school", said Haag. "We believe it is important for all Southern Illinois businesses to be involved regionally. That has been our mantra from day one."

Opening Day is Friday, May 18. Single game tickets are on sale now. For the latest news and updates about the Miners and upcoming events at Rent One Park, visit www.southernillinoisminers.com .
